Indian author Amit Ray said: “It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of vibration you have radiated in life that matters.”

I couldn’t agree more! It is so interesting to meet a person with a meaningful life! They are stars, full of energy and sharing their bright light with others, leaving their personal touch in the lives of those who meet them. We also need to meet those ones with a not so meaningful life. This is good for us to reflect, we should then count all the positive things in our life, one by one, and we will realize we have countless ones. This will turn our perspective of life to be as meaningful as ever.

We have many examples to look at, like Randy Pausch, an American educator and a professor of computer science, human–computer interaction, and design. He achieved many of his childhood dreams. He didn’t simply enjoy things but he wanted to be able to create them, create the things he loved. Like when he was 6, instead of just enjoying Disneyland, he said he “wanted to make stuff like that”. We need to create our path in life, this will help us to have our dreams come true.
I have always been a dreamer. Give me ten minutes’ sleep and I’ll come back to you with an incredible dream. Astonishing but true! I think it is important to dream in life, dream big, about our goals. They are the reason for our excitement when we wake up every morning. We want to get up and go for them. If we do what we like, we will have more joy in our lives, making them more meaningful. Although sometimes reaching our goals or dreams may not be that easy, in the process we learn to be more patient and determined.

When I was 8 years old, I started studying English. I felt so important to be able to say “The cat is under the table” in a different language from mine. The more I learnt that language, the more I dreamt about living in an English-speaking country. I was born in Uruguay, my mother tongue is Spanish, and I love my first language. But I feel so proud of myself that I have been able to communicate in English, both when I lived in the USA and now in the UK. I have surprised many people by helping them in their own language. We never know if, sooner or later, our childhood dreams will become true. If yours haven’t yet, just think about what else you should do to create them and have them become a reality. Then it won’t matter how long you are on earth, how much money you gathered, but you’ll feel you have had a meaningful life by being like a star, touching positively other people’s lives with your own light.
