Jim Dale, English actor and composer once said: “I’m still a kid inside, and adventure is adventure wherever you find it”. I feel the same!
Some years ago, we visited some dear friends in USA. They live in the outskirts of a city and therefore they have plenty of space near their house. When I say plenty, I mean really plenty!!! Just to give you an idea, they had a motorcycle track where you could enjoy yourself driving a small motorcycle and pretend you were in the big races, with high jumps in the air.
One day we went a little bit further from their house and all of a sudden, I find myself looking at a yellow vehicle (SxS or SSV, which is an off-road vehicle with two seats positioned side by side and enclosed within a roll cage structure) and saying it looked pretty fun to ride one of those. Well, said our friend, we didn’t come here just to look at it, let’s ride it! WHAAAAT ?????????? You can imagine my wide-open eyes while making the question. Yes, let’s ride it. Your turn first. It seemed to me adventure was about to start.

I had to put on some special equipment for security and jumped -to be honest, I was pushed- in the kart seat and afterwards was locked in my seat that if a tornado had hit me, it would have not moved me at all from there. It was very cold, freezing but I felt like fire!

My friend, who was the driver, started moving the kart very slowly and asked me if I not only liked it but if I felt comfortable. Oh yes, this is lovely, I am already enjoying it! Suddenly, he accelerated and started going faster. I thought we were going to use a road, but no, we were driving in the country and obviously there were ups and downs where I felt I was leaving the vehicle at any minute! There were turns left, then right, jumping over mounds and after some minutes’ drive (which were like the never-ending story to me!) we were back and my Hubby was waiting for his turn.

Did you like it? He asked me, of course I did, but I cannot speak very much because I’m still shaking!! Needless to say that as soon as I got off the kart, I could not almost stand up as I did not feel my knees. Honestly, it was a GREAT adventure, but the next day I had to stay longer in bed as every muscle of my dear body was aching.

When you’re in your comfort zone, you feel relaxed and sure of the terrain you’re stepping on. You feel unmovable and I can understand it’s a nice feeling. But, the feeling of an adventure is something I love! The feeling of adrenaline bursting inside you is AMAZING and makes you feel so much A L I V E!!!!! That was an unforgettable experience, I enjoyed every minute of it.
There’s no greater feeling than when you decide to finally take charge of your life and do something that you will know will make you happy, regardless of what others may think. That is a great adventure!
